Begin with 2016, there were significant changes in my life, and I felt lost. At the time, I was eager to figure out what is the purpose of my life. Thus, I started walking into nature and did some watercolour sketch. That period gave me a pause to search for the meaning of life and observing my calling. At the end of 2017, I made more than 100 pics outdoor-sketchings, and that gives me a base to inspire my current research.
In this early stage, I spend the most time on travelling, so I choose to paint on easy-carry postcard-size watercolour papers. Watercolour is the first medium for the artist to do outdoor-sketching. Furthermore, the artist mainly draws with watercolour pencils, assisting with other mixed mediums, including watercolours related mediums and a small number of colour pencils.
Mainly, I choose to utilise watercolour pencils is because it is childlike mediums.

"When you draw as a child, you draw naturally with your intuitive. You draw what is truly in your mind, and what you want to say. "

In her opinion, using watercolour pencils is a trigger to release what was hidden under cover of perfectionism and then intuitively focus on the flow of ideas. During the process, mixed other art medium is also a way to challenge the belief "what makes great art". I remember as a kid, we are allowed to use all kinds of materials to create an artwork, but after growing up, we have to select one specific art medium to develop. This action helps to define the category in a competition, but it is irrelevant to create significant art.
I am a bit rebellious, and that is the result of the majority of the society think oil painting is an only "professional" and "master" mediums. I feel this opinion is contradictory with my heart. My heart guides me to what I am good at, and I feel more relaxed with, watercolour pencils. Still, I don't limit myself on using one type of art mediums when creating an artwork. That is what felt right to me.
The follow-up inspiration from nature and outdoor-sketch.

After observing what I sketched, I found out that the shape of a tree is particularly standing-out among what I painted and it appears to be very attractive to me. I would never feel bored by observing a tree. Each one is so unique and energetic. Later-on, I found the similar pattern on a piece of rose petal. I started to apply these patterns as an art experiment on a postcard-size paper first and then extend it to a bigger one.
