100 piece watercolours outdoor sketches
2016-2017 is a turning point in my life and my art career. There were a few things, broke-up, glaucoma diagnosed, and also feeling lost. These are turning into the motivation to push me to move forward to a brand new page of my life.
In 2017, I started the healing journey, which aims at opening the senses of my body. I travelled and did a lot of outdoor-sketchings. What I was trying to do is to feel again, and these are the feelings that I had numbed for years. By observing nature, such as light-moving and waving trees in breeze, are both stimulations to my senses. Through the encounter with nature is where I learned to face the vulnerable part, and be honest with myself and my true feelings.
I host the exhibition in a local art cafe, Kafemaera.
Within 9 months, I made more than 100 pieces of watercolours outdoor-sketches in total. These are the photos for the opening party of the exhibition (09,12, 2017)
During this period, the landscape sketches I made is neither 'a set' nor a series, but it was a foundation for me to go through to the next step in my art career. This period provides such a precious time for me to heal myself and then stay in-tuned with nature. Without this period, I could not observe the beauty of each plant as well as develop my petal research series.
