[ Taiwan Annual 2019 ] at TAIPEI EXPO PARK - EXPO DOME, 31 Aug. - 08 Sep. 2019
In this show, I present the 17 artworks in total, some artwork is made in Taipei, and it takes the petal of roses from the Taipei Rose Garden, as a reference; The others are a part of the Artist Residency program - Rose Petal Project, created during the stay in Sofia and Kazanlak, which so-called "The Rose valley".
After the opening night in Sofia, I was thinking of how to present my art project in a concrete way. Then, Taiwan Annual 2019 gave me a chance to show my friends and my family about what did I do in the Artist Residency Program. This exhibition actually gave me more time to develop the idea to present my artworks in a creative way.
I remember that the desk I had inside the studio. I used to use it to paint on artworks when I was there. Thus, I want to display my artworks on the two black tables. There are two interesting effects that I want to mention here: First, the black table helps my paintings stand out from the usual white wall, which was a universal rule for the visual artists to present their work on a white wall. Next, changing the viewing perspective is also changing the way of observing the artworks. On the table, I also put needles to fix all the artwork. Also, I carefully put the dry petals I collected from Sofia inside a sample case. This exhibition way leads the audience to connect to some biological research. This arrangement is what I also want to inspire people the diversity of nature. Even though each petal has its personality and they all are beautiful. There is no need to compare with a different life form.
